Marci graduated from The University of Maryland in 2006 with a Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University. Since graduating, Marci has kept her focus on working with children, most notably at Kluge Children’s Rehabilitation Center, as well as Children's Hospital of Richmond, both in Virginia. She has experience working with children across a variety of settings including NICU, in-patient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, preschools, and early intervention.
Marci's passion is working with children aged birth to three years in the natural environment, and she has a special interest in working with children with complex medical needs.
She is comfortable treating a wide range of cognitive and communicative diagnoses, including:
- Developmental Delay
- Apraxia
- Expressive and Receptive Language Delay
- Cerebral Palsy
- Articulation Disorders
- Fluency Disorders
- Feeding Disorders
A true advocate for family-centered care, Marci believes that children learn best when parents and caregivers are active in a child’s therapy. She is committed to including caregivers in the planning and implementation of an individualized plan for each child. She draws from personal experience as an active participant in both therapy and medical intervention for her own two children. She believes it is important to collaborate with all members of a child's care team, and she looks forward to working with your family!
In her free time, Marci enjoys crafts and playtime with her two young children, learning to play the piano, cooking, walks, and yoga. She currently lives in Chapel Hill with her husband, two children, and two cats.
