Asata holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut with a concentration on Human Development in Urban Society. In addition, she is a graduate of Infant Family Practice Specialization from Arizona State University. Asata carries the Endorsement for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-Based Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health®. She is a certified Infant-Toddler Family Specialist, and has worked with children and families as an early childhood educator, birth-to-five mental health clinician, and early childcare and education provider coach.
A regarded advocate for healthy child development, Asata’s focus is on infant-toddler mental health. She believes the foundation for children to learn begins with the relationships between child and caregiver, and her work centers around nurturing and strengthening those vital bonds. Asata enjoys identifying individual strengths and talents and bridging those discoveries into comprehensive and effective care planning for a child and family.
Asata loves spending time with family, enjoying the beauty of nature and exploring her community through service learning and development projects. A resident of Durham for 2 years, she is dedicated to personal, professional, and community growth and wellbeing.
