Cookie Barnes, M. Ed, B-K, ITFS


Cookie graduated from UNC-Greensboro in 2009 with a Masters Degree in Education with Birth-Kindergarten certification. She also holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Studies. Cookie is certified in CPR and First Aid.  During the course of her career, Cookie has worked closely with exceptional children.


She particularly enjoys working with children experiencing:


  • Emotional/Behavioral needs
  • Autism
  • Cleft Palate
  • Developmental Disabilities
  • ADHD
  • Physical Disabilities



Cookie is very passionate about early intervention. She has seen the positive impacts of skilled therapy in the growth and development of a child, and she has had the pleasure of working with children in a variety of settings. Cookie believes in the power of learning in the natural          environment, and she feels direct therapy is most effective when the caregivers are active  participants in a child’s care plan.  


A true advocate for children and families, Cookie firmly believes that supportive environment, team collaboration, and learning through play are the keys to success in helping children reach their full potential.
